Vala's Pumpkin Patch

Yesterday Kaelyn and I joined our friends Andrea and Logan at Vala's Pumpkin Patch. Andrea got a season pass to Vala's and she was able to put THREE adult names on her pass. She put herself, her husband, and ME! That was so super nice of her. So whenever I go WITH her, we can get in free! Since Vala's is an expensive place and with a little kid you don't want to stay there ALL day, we've only been there twice this season. The first time was for KGBI night when we got in free due to work. Yesterday with our friends was the second time. Kaelyn enjoyed KGBI night but yesterday was WAY more fun. It was morning/early afternoon so she was fresh and we had friends to give us the tour. I didn't have to keep an eye on the map to figure out where to go!

Kaelyn loved this windmill! The first time we went up we took this picture. We went by it again later and she decided running up and down the two ramps that led to the windmill was a blast so she did that over. And over. And OVER again.
Hey, whatever works!

We visited Bunnyville, which is adorable. A bunch of bunnies running around. And they have a whole cute little town. Houses and buildings. They have quite the life! One bunny got loose and was running around on the path for the people. But he eventually jumped back in. The railing is pretty low so I can see how they could easily get out if they REALLY wanted to. Kaelyn kept putting one leg up on the railing like she was going to climb over. She never did, but she sure thought about it! She seemed to want to! She giggled at those bunnies! We got to ride this free tractor ride too. It was really bumpy but Kaelyn
loved it. She sat across from me for most of the ride and then on my lap for the last few minutes. She seemed to like the fake pigs on the ride the best. We drove by all sorts of things but she wouldn't tear her eyes from those fake pigs as they went by!

This big rocking chair is another thing both kids enjoyed at Vala's. Kaelyn liked it when I put her in it and she would slide to the back. IT kind of worked like a mini-slide. It was a little hard for her to crawl back to the edge, but she managed. Several times! Luckily, the chair doesn't really rock!

We found a play area with several slides towards the beginning of our trip. Both kids went down several times and liked watching other kids play too. There was one that was a decent size so I was able to help Kaelyn climb the slide. She prefers to climb them and then slide down. Rather than climb steps in the back or something. Easier for
her. Not so much for me! :) It's hard when we go to another playground where the slides are too tall and I just CAN'T help her climb them. We actually HAVE to go to the stairs! Like the huge playground in our town. That equipment is giant, there's no WAY I could help her climb it. She actually has to go up the stairs. And, that stuff is SO big, I won't even let her slide down alone. So I get to climb the stairs too and slide down with her! Last time I was quite sweaty when we finished!

There was a little school house just Kaelyn's size that she loved going in and out. She'd go in, look out the window at me, then turn around and run back out. There were cute desks in there she probably would have enjoyed sitting at, but she was too busy running in and out of the house! This was near the pumpkin eating dragon show. We tried to watch the show, but no one was singing so Kaelyn wasn't interested. She wandered and found this school house instead. Whatever keeps her happy and entertained!

I was calling Kaelyn pigpen towards the end of our trip because she was one big dustball. She was SO dusty and dirty it seemed like everytime she took a step she let off a puff of dust! At first I Tried to keep dusting off her pants, but eventually I gave up! We were on a farm, what did I expect!

Towards the train there was a big pit of corn. Last time we went I put Kaelyn in the corn and she immediately tried to eat it so I had to take her out. This time, she really enjoyed picking it up and dropping it and even sludging through it. I had to go in with her the first time but after that, she went in and out several times on her own. The only problem this time with the corn was that when we got HOME, I found several hard little kernels in EACH of her shoes! Poor thing was walking around for hours in that! I guess it must not have bothered her to much or she would have complained at some point!

There was an old tractor near a pit of sand that Kaelyn liked to sit on. She likes to pretend to steer things. It was pretty big for her, but she made it work! The tractor was next to a big sand pit that had little wooden landings. She liked climbing on the landings, walking around them, sitting on them. Oh, and there were stairs up to a big slide nearby too. She liked the stairs, but we never made it down the slide.

We had some free train passes so we rode the train too. Kaelyn started eating her lunch in line and happily ate her puffcorn popcorn while we rode the train. It was a nice ride and we didn't have to wait in line long so it was worth it.

And, to top it all off, we were able to get another mega bag of kettle corn on the way out! The pumpkin patch is about 45 minutes from our house so we stayed till 1. I figured Kaelyn would take her nap on the way home. Well, Vala's is about a mile from the highway, and KAelyn was asleep BEFORE we reached the highway! I guess she was worn out! We're hoping to go a time or two again before the season ends. We sure had nice weather for it and it was a totally different thing to do. Dusty, yes, but loads of fun!

New Cousin

Kaelyn has a new cousin! Sean's brother Joe and his wife Dacia had a little girl yesterday. It was a C-section and she was about 6 weeks early, but all seemed to go well. They named her Isla Marie (said Eye-Lah)...I'm not sure on the spelling yet. We can't wait to meet her. She's only 5lbs something so she's little but mighty! More details later when I get them! We hope to go meet her next weekend.

In other news, I found an adorable duck costume for Kaelyn today to wear for Halloween. Not that she's really into trick or treating yet. I know it's more for the photo op. But she sleeps with her rubber ducky and takes him everywhere so it only seems fitting!

I just heard from Sean today that he IS being sent to Las Vegas in January on business so I'm excited. I plan to go with him for a few days to see some shows. I said I'd only want to be away from Kaelyn for TWO nights so we'll be flying separately. My first time EVER flying alone. Could be interesting! I'm looking forward to it and I know Kaelyn will do fine. I just hope she remembers me! :) I have awhile to imprint myself on her mind.

We just got back from being at my parents for quite a few days so I'm attempting to play catch up during nap time. Better get back to it!
